UT Knoxville has a Big Idea.
UT currently ranks 50th among America's best public colleges and universities. Our aspiration is to join the top 25.
Twenty-five is not just a number in a strategic plan. It represents astounding academic achievement, a commitment to graduating outstanding young men and women, excellence in research, and life-altering positive change for our students, their families, and the people of Tennessee.
Why does the university need your contribution?
Our students are arriving on campus prepared for this journey. In fact, our most recent freshman classes have entered with higher average ACT scores than those at many peer institutions. In other words, we already have top 25 students. Now, we need to provide them with a top 25 educational experience.
The challenge is figuring out how to do more with less. Since 2009, UT has experienced a 30% decrease in its recurring, base allocations from the state. As a result, the most immediate goals of this journey--recruiting and retaining top faculty, increasing need- and merit-based scholarships, and funding graduate student fellowships--simply cannot be achieved without private gift support.
Alumni and friends are UT's most important advocates. Your first-hand experiences give you a unique authority each time you share the message of how remarkable a university your alma mater is. And it's only getting better. Our students and faculty are scholars worthy of your investments, and a gift of any size truly makes a difference.
