The Office of Alumni Affairs offers a variety of Lifelong Learning
Programs for alumni and friends of UT. These programs provide activities
in social and educational settings where alumni and friends can stay
actively engaged with the university. Programs range from an evening to a
week in length.
Currently, Alumni Summer College is our largest and longest running Lifelong Learning
program. If you have any ideas for Lifelong Learning topics or if there
are faculty and staff members you’d like to hear from through these
programs, please send an e-mail to lifelonglearning@utk.edu.
Similar in format to Alumni Summer College but limited to half a
day, College for a Day programs offer stimulating faculty presentations
related to a specific theme. Themes have included topics such as Lawn and Garden Care, Earth and Planetary Sciences, Tennessee History, and The Civil War.
Dinner and Dialogue programs offer an intimate group of 12-15 alumni and
friends the opportunity to engage in an in-depth conversation with an
outstanding UT faculty member while enjoying dinner together. Topics
for these events have included Global Nuclear Security, Biofuels, and
the UT Life of the Mind Program.
Lifelong Learning Programs also offer a diverse
selection of programs throughout the year featuring faculty speakers,
alumni speakers, and other experts. Most of these events are held on
campus. Previous programs have included Dr. William Bass speaking on
forensic anthropology, Lawn and Garden Care 101, Dane Bradshaw, A Night
at the Museum, Grilling 101, History of the Lady Vols, Sustainable
Architecture, and Living On: Portraits of Tennessee Survivors and
Liberators.
